CM monitoring Baba's health: Raghuveera

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy who has reviewed the health situation of Sathya Sai Baba of Puttaparthi at his Camp Office on Tuesday expressed the hope that the Godman would recover shortly.

The Chief Minister has reportedly cancelled his trip to Puttaparthi for various reasons, the primary one to spread of infection as Sai Baba has already been admitted to an Intensive Care Unit. 

Medical experts from all over the country and United States had already arrived at Puttaparthi and had been monitoring the health condition of the Baba who continued to stay in the ICU at Puttaparthi. Major Industries Minister J Geetha Reddy has already camped to coordinate the medical treatment being administered to the Baba with the Sai Seva Trust. She is understood to have told media persons that the Sai Baba opened his eyes and gave indications to perform a ritual – ‘Harathi’.

The Chief Minister after review of the health condition of Sai Baba with top officials, directed Principal Health Secretary P V Ramesh and Special Chief Secretary L V Subramanyam to immediately rush to Puttaparthi, stay there and take necessary steps until Baba recovered.

Both the officers had been told to coordinate with the Sai Seva Trust and see that there was no communication gap in respect of government assistance.

Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy who was part of the Chief Minister’s review meeting, later told waiting media persons that the government was hopeful of Baba’s recovery and appealed to the public not to take credence of any rumours regarding Satya Sai Baba’s health.

Stating that the spiritual leadership of Baba was essential, the Minister made it clear that Sai Baba would recover shortly and be among the people.

The government would issue two medical bulletins daily to update the people on the health condition of Sai Baba, Mr Raghuveera Reddy said.

Except for the kidney problem, every aspect of Baba’s health was quite normal, according to Ratnakar, son of Sai Baba’s brother.

Mr Raghuveera Reddy added that the Chief Minister had planned to visit Puttaparthi but had postponed this programme keeping in view the possible spread of infection. “However the Chief Minister continues to monitor the situation from his Camp Office, Mr Raghuveera Reddy emphasised.

Besides, Dr Ashok Kumar’s team, medical experts from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and United States have been camping in Puttaparthi for the last two days and monitoring the Baba’s condition minute by minute.

Apart from Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy, IT Minister Ponnala Lakshmiah, Major and Medium Irrigation Minister P Sudharshan Reddy, Social Welfare Minister Pithani Satyanarayana, Chief Secretary S V Prasad, DGP K Aravinda Rao and the Chief Minister’s Special Chief Secretary J Sathyanarayana were present in the review meeting.
