Submit reports by April 13: DS to Schemes Monitoring panels

Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas on Saturday said that the members of the Flagship Programme Monitoring Committees should submit a comprehensive report, with photographs, before April 13, 2011. The members should complete their work before April 10, Mr Srinivas added.

Speaking to media persons at the Gandhi Bhavan, after reviewing the performance of the Flagship Programme Monitoring Committees, Mr Srinivas said that the Monitoring Committees were formed to monitor the implementation of the government welfare schemes.

When asked if the monitoring committees would not cause a hindrance to the work being undertaken by government employees, Mr Srinivas said that the Monitoring Committee members were told to study if the government schemes reached their targets. They would not cause any hindrance to the government employees, he assured.

Incidentally, Saturday’s review meeting was the first after the formation of the Monitoring Committees.

When pointed out that the attendance was sparse at the review meeting, Mr Srinivas said that since a major festival ‘Ugadi’ was around the corner, and India was playing Sri Lanka for the ICC World Cup crown, the thin attendance was understandable.

Earlier, the PCC had ordered the Committees to gather feedback from DCC / CCC  Monitoring Committees and also from independent sources on the developments and formulate monthly reports on the specific programmes.

The programmes implementation will be reviewed at district meetings every month. The exercise is being carried out to provide the Congress leaders enough arsenal to rebut the allegations levelled by Opposition party leaders on the schemes by gathering relevant data.

The setting up of the Monitoring Committees was on the orders of the High Command. The PCC will have to take these committees to district and mandal levels after observing their performance for about three to four months.

Mr Srinivas said the observations of the committee on specific issues would be communicated to concerned Ministers of the Central Government.
