Centre will opt for sixth option, separate T not possible

Minor Irrigation Minister T G Venkatesh on Thursday stated that announcement of separate Telangana state will not be possible under any circumstances.

Talking to media persons here, the Minister stated the Centre will take a decision on the bifurcation of state issue based on the recommendations of Justice BN Srikrishna Committee Report.

“Going by this, it is highly unlikely that the Centre will announce separate Telangana state since it would adopt the sixth recommendation of Srikrishna Committee,” Mr Venkatesh stated.  The sixth option favours the continuation of a united Andhra Pradesh with Statutory and Constitutional powers for the Telangana region.

The Minister opined that the sixth option was most workable and best possible solution for the social and economic development of the three regions of the State. Mr Venkatesh added that no state must be bifurcated based on the sentiments and agitations. “If this is done, there will be no end to the demands of separate states,” the Minister said.

He also opined that Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao would merge his party with the Congress by July and agrees to the terms and conditions of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Mr Venkatesh also expressed confidence that Congress will win both the Pulivendula Assembly and Kadapa Lok Sabha Constituencies in the forthcoming by-elections.

He said the Congress high command will announce the names of its candidates after discussing with Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
