TRS to explore legal options against SKC Report

A day after the sensational observations by the Andhra Pradesh High Court against the Justice BN Srikrishna Committee Report, demands for a high-level probe behind the basis of the Panel’s findings intensified in Hyderabad on Thursday.

Speaking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA from Siddipet T Harish Rao termed the eighth chapter of the Report which purportedly advised the Centre against bifurcating Andhra Pradesh by saying that the Telangana state would become a haven for Maoists and communal tensions would rock it, as totally baseless and far from truth. Mr Harish Rao said that the Telangana leaders and its people have lost their confidence in the Report since it “was wrong and favoured integration of state.”

According to some media reports, the eighth chapter of the Report opines that any newly created Telangana state will become a hub of Maoist activities and communal tensions would prevail.

Mr Harish Rao said that if these media reports are true, then the Report itself would lose all relevance. As it were, the people of Telangana had lost confidence in the Members of the Srikrishna Committee since they had partied with Seemandhra leaders even during the process of consultations. “The Panel members have lost respect before the Telangana people,” Mr Harish Rao stated.

Demanding the Centre order a high-level probe against Panel Members, the TRS MLA alleged that they were ‘sold out’ and had submitted a Report full of lapses.

The TRS leader also said that his party was contemplating to seek the advice from legal luminaries and file a petition to push for a high-level probe.

Mr Harish Rao further vowed to wage a battle along with Telangana people against the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee recommendations until justice prevails. He also demanded that the Centre introduce the Telangana Bill in Parliament without linking the issue with SKC Report.
