T-state a reality in 'minutes' if PM, CM desire: Baba Ramdev

Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev on Saturday stated that if the state and Central governments willed, the creation of a separate state of Telangana ‘will take a minute.’

Speaking at a Yoga camp organised in Tandur, Ranga Reddy district, the well known Yoga Guru who has already announced that he would float a political party before the next Lok Sabha elections and contest all the seats, stated that creation of Telangana ‘would take a minute’ if both Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy so desired.

Baba Ramdev told the huge gathering at the camp that a separate Telangana state is the democratic right of the people of the region. He said that the people are demanding the fulfilment of a dream and this dream will come true if the Central and state government so willed. “The Prime Minister and the Chief Minister must act on the demand for Telangana,” Baba Ramdev said.

He said that the camps across the country, part of his ‘Swabhiman Yatra’ are aimed at creating awareness among the people about the prevalent corruption.

The Yoga Guru stated that his ultimate aim is to rid the country from the evil of corruption. To this effect, he would support any candidate who has a clean record in the next elections, Baba Ramdev stated.

The Yoga Guru has been touring the state and has raised the Telangana statehood demand at all the camps he had addressed.

He had said that the call for a separate state has been resounding from across the ten districts of Telangana but the Centre was maintaining silence on the demand.

He also found the delay in taking a decision on Telangana difficult to understand, especially since ‘Telangana as it was an independent state earlier.’

Earlier on March 11, Baba Ramdev had opined that smaller states will ensure faster development and more convenient to administer. He had said at Visakhapatnam that “smaller states will be better for administrative convenience and development.”

He had added that division of the state for the convenience of administration was advisable.
