Telugu Desam Party MLA from Banswada, Pocharam Srinivas, who had parted ways with the party and joined hands with Telangana forces, on Friday stated that he would formally resign from the primary membership of the TDP and from the Legislative Assembly.
Talking to media persons here, Mr Srinivas said that he would tender his resignation from the Assembly and from the TDP on March 23. Mr Srinivas also added that he would join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi the same day at Banswada in the presence of TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao. “I will continue the agitation for separate Telangana state formation after submitting my resignation to TDP,” the MLA said.
Mr Srinivas revealed that he had voted for TRS candidate Mohd Mahmood Ali in the Legislative Council elections which were held on Thursday, violating the Whip issued by the TDP. The MLA had earlier declared that he was party ways with the TDP after alleging that the separate Telangana statehood demand would never be realized if left to the party. He had said that he was dissatisfied with the failure of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu for failing to make his party’s stand clear on Telangana state.
