Jagan has no desire to serve people, only after power: Babu

Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday alleged that former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy has launched the ‘YSR Congress Party’ with an eye on the Chief Minister’s chair and not because he has any intention to serve the people.

Talking to media persons at Telugu Desam Legislature Party Office, the Leader of the Opposition pointed out that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy would not have launched the party if the Congress High Command had named him Chief Minister after the sudden death of his father and former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

The TDP chief stated that `YSR Congress Party’ has no direction, principles and no agenda. He predicted that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy would merge his party in the Congress on the lines of Praja Rajyam Party launched by actor-turned-politician K Chiranjeevi, sooner than later.

Throwing a barb at the allegations of graft raised against the former Kadapa MP and his father, Mr Naidu said that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy should well have named his party as ‘YSR Corruption Party’ instead of the ‘YSR Congress Party’. He said that this was because “YSR was involved in so many scandals.”

“We are witnessing the mushrooming of parties which are launched only with an aim to win power. These parties will not survive in the longer run,” Mr Naidu opined. He repeated his words that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy has established the party to protect his personal interests.

The former chief minister also stated that the Congress has lost people’s confidence as it failed to contain inflation and rampant corruption was prevailing in the country.

Mr Naidu stated that TDP was only alternative to Congress and would provide good and corruption-free administration in the state, ‘since it sticks to its principles.’

The former chief minister expressed confidence that the people of the state would vote for Telugu Desam Party in the next elections as they fed up with Congress.

Stating the government has totally failed to support the weavers financially, Mr Naidu demanded that the government honour its promise of releasing Rs 312 crore. The government has no guts to discuss weavers issue in the Assembly, he said, and pointed out that only Rs 108 crore has been released instead of the promised grant of Rs 312 crore.

He also demanded that the government provide raw materials with subsidized price including power for the weavers.
