No permission required for March insists Kodandaram

Telangana Political Joint Action Committee convenor Kodandaram on Tuesday made it clear that police permission for Million March was not required as the proposed rally would be organized peacefully in the capital on March 10.

Talking to media persons at JAC office in New MLA Quarters in Adarshnagar, Prof Kodandaram stated that the Million March will be organized after the completion of intermediate examination scheduled on March 10. He said that the leaders from Telangana will take a pledge to unite and fight for a separate statehood at the Tank Bund at 4 PM on March 10, where the Million March would culminate.

Prof Kodandaram said that the March will not cause any inconvenience to students and asked the police not to obstruct it since it is being organized to press for the introduction of Telangana Bill in Parliament. He called upon all Telangana activists to participate widely in the Million March and make it a grand success.

The TPJAC chief also condemned the police for resorting to arresting of student leaders as a precautionary measure. Prof Kodandaram demanded the immediate release of arrested student leaders.

Earlier Prof Kodandaram met Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and appealed her to direct the police not to obstruct the March and sought her permission to hold the proposed rally. He also urged her to direct police not to resort to arrests as a precautionary measure.
