Hyderabad Police Commissioner AK Khan on Monday clarified that the his department has not given permission to the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee to organise the ‘Million March,’ and prohibited all processions, dharnas, rallies or public meetings on March 10.
In a statement, Mr Khan said that the widely publicized and proposed “Million March” to Hyderabad City by pro- Telangana JACs and other opposition parties is likely to create Law and Order problems causing disturbance to the public peace and order in the limits of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
He said that the protestors plan to lay siege to Hyderabad by blocking all the roads and to go for vanta varpu on the roads. The large number of agitators is bound to create disturbance affecting public peace and order in the limits of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, the police chief said.
To maintain public order, peace and tranquillity in the city, Mr Khan prohibited every kind of procession, dharna, rally or public meetings and prohibit any individual or /groups of individuals from making any speech, gesture or displaying pictures, symbols, placards, flags etc.
The city police chief warned that any person violating the orders would be prosecuted. Mr Khan however exempted police officers and personnel, military personnel, Home Guards on duty, genuine funeral processions.
The prohibition orders will be in force from March 6 till 6 AM on March 11.
