Additional forces in city on March 10: AK Khan

The city police on Sunday stated that additional police forces from outside the city would be deployed to maintain law and order during the proposed Millennium March called on March 10 as Intermediate and equivalent public examinations are also scheduled to be held on that day.

In a statement released to the media, city Police Commissioner AK Khan said that the additional forces would be deployed keeping in view the available information from different sources, in order to maintain normalcy during the examinations period.

Mr Khan said that the elaborate bandobust will be made to ensure normalcy prevails in the city and to curb violence and intimidation and to prevent hardships to citizens, and more particularly to facilitate the Intermediate, ICSE and CBSE students to write their exams without hindrance.

The police chief had already ordered imposition of Section 144 (restricting the assembly of four or more persons) on Saturday.

The police had banned rallies, public meetings, dharnas, protest programmes without prior permission.

Mr Khan requested students and their parents to take note of the possible severe traffic disruptions they can encounter due to the proposed Millennium March and the additional police presence in place in the city and make their travel plans accordingly.

The police chief said that the students should take appropriate route to the examination centres as also plan well in advance to reach the centres well in advance.
