Gangula Bhanumathi, widow of Maddelacheruvu Suri who was shot dead recently in the city, on Friday alleged that Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu was the brains behind the murder of the factionist leader.
Talking to media persons, Bhanumathi said that the Mr Naidu had hatched a conspiracy and deputed Bhanu Kiran to kill Suri, the prime suspect in the killing of the Telugu Desam MLA from Anantapur, Paritala Ravindra.
She demanded that Mr Naidu own up to moral responsibility of Suri’s killing.
Bhanumathi also alleged that the family members of Paritala Ravindra were responsible for the murder. She said that Suri had sought police protection since he feared a threat to his life from the close associates of Paritala Ravindra—Potula Suresh and Chamman since the past one month. However, the police did not provide security and ignored his appeal, she pointed out.
The slain factionist’s widow added that Mr Naidu hatched conspiracy to kill Suri since he feared that the TDP candidates in in Anantapur district would not be able to manage to save their security deposits if elections were held there.
Bhanumathi also alleged that the families of former MLAs Narayana Reddy and Chenna Reddy were killed as part of Mr Naidu’s conspiracy.
Stating that she had lost confidence in the state police over their ability to arrest the prime suspect in Suri’s murder Bhanu Kiran, Bhanumathi revealed that she would meet Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and urge him to hand over the investigations into the murder to the Central Bureau of Investigation. Bhanu Kiran has been absconding since the shootout.
She also alleged that the police are showing more interest in getting knowledge about the properties owned by Bhanu Kiran rather than carrying out the investigation into Suri’s murder and his killer’s arrest.
Bhanumathi also alleged that some media channels were filing false reports to mislead the public over the case. She also stated that this was done to increase their TRPs.
