KKR says govt ready for all eventualities

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday stated that he would attend the all-party meeting convened by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram to discuss the Justice B N Srikrishna Commission Report on January 6.

Talking to media persons at AP Bhavan after attending a meeting with Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, the Chief Minister said that he would attend the all party meeting to collect the SKC Report from Mr Chidambaram.

When asked to air his views, he said, “After studying the SKC Report thoroughly, I would make comments.” He also stated that the government was ready to face any and all repercussions once the Srikrishna Committee’s report was made public.

Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy added that he met the Finance Minister to discuss the long-pending projects and seeking pending financial assistance of Rs 1600 crore to the state.

The Chief Minister said he had sought Rs 500 crore advance grant to meet the grave financial position.

Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said that he had asked the Union Finance Minister to lift restrictions on export of rice to other states to help the paddy farmers. He also sought permission for lifting 15 lakh tones of rice from the state.

The Chief Minister also appealed to Mr Mukherjee to supply gas from Krishna Godavari basin to fertilizer plants in the state.

Reacting on the Krishna water Disputes Tribunal verdict, the Chief Minister said that the state would file an appeal in the tribunal after consulting all experts and irrigation engineers.

The Chief Minister said that he would take an all-party delegation to New Delhi over the Krishna tribunal verdict to prevail upon on the Centre and seeking justice.
