Telangana TDP Forum on Monday decided to appeal to Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu to rethink on his decision to send representatives to the all-party meeting convened by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram to discuss Justice BN Srikrishna Commission report on January 6.
The forum took this decision after indications emerged that Mr Naidu has decided on the names of two representatives from the party started to emerge. Party circles had been abuzz with the news that the senior leaders had settled on the representatives, one from Telangana and the other from Rayalaseema to attend the crucial meeting.
According to TDP sources, the Forum has decided to convene another emergency meeting at Telugu Desam Legislature Party office at 11 am on Tuesday to discuss the issue and to chalk out future course of action.
The TDP has highest number of MLAs (39) from the Telangana region compared to the Congress (32) and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (11).
The TRS and BJP have already announced their decision to boycott the all-party meeting.
The TDP leaders from Telangana are in dilemma whether to welcome the decision to send the representatives as opposing it would be defying the party. If the Telangana TDP leaders agree to sending the representatives, it would mean inviting a backlash by the Telangana protagonists.
