Decision on lifting cases unconstitutional: Seemandhra students

Stating that the move will send a wrong message to the people, the Joint Action Committee of Seemandhra Students on Tuesday criticized the state government’s decision to lift all police cases against students and agitators, who participated in the separate statehood agitation.

The Seemandhra student leaders, after holding a meeting on Acharya Nagarjuna University campus to chalk out their plan of action, criticised the state government move to lift the police cases and said that it would send a wrong message to the people in the state.

“The state government decision to lift police cases is against the spirit of the Constitution spirit and it will send a wrong message in the people,” the leaders stated.

They opined the cases against students participating in agitation demanding bifurcation or integration of the State should have been lifted based on merit.

Seemandhra JAC Convener A Kishore said that the students would picket the houses of all MPs and MLAs in the two regions and hold dharnas from January 1 demanding their resignation in support of integration of state.

The student leaders said that they were ready to sacrifice their lives for the cause of integration of state if the Justice B N Srikrishna Commission report comes in favour of Telangana.

Political JAC convener N Samuel and leaders of all 14 Student JACs pledged to work for united Andhra Pradesh. He said that the formation of Telangana state would result in colossal loss of taxpayers' money as the exercise would require about Rs 2 lakh crore, which the Centre was not in a position to afford.
