Central forces to reach city on Thursday

The first batch of the additional Central Forces, sought by the state government to keep the law and order situation in the state under control after the submission of the Justice BN Srikrishna Report will reach Hyderabad on Thursday.

The Centre had dispatched the contingent of paramilitary forces on Wednesday. These paramilitary forces will be dispatched in sensitive areas of the state, in all three regions, apart from Hyderabad.

The state government had earlier asked for around 120 companies of Central paramilitary forces for the state, anticipating a backlash in the Telangana region after the submission of the Srikrishna Report.

The Srikrishna report will be submitted by December 31 to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and the state government is apprehensive that disgruntled elements may use it as an excuse to create trouble.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi had earlier said that it suspected a ploy behind the state government seeking the paramilitary force to suppress the legitimate demands of the Telangana people.

TRS leader Etala Rajender had said that feared that the state and Central governments will try to curb the just demands of Telangana state by using force.

Mr Rajender had warned the government that the Telangana sentiment will not be crushed under the use of force. He said that the people of Telangana will counter all and any repressive measures with protests and had added that the people of the region will bear any possible repressive measures by the government with firm determination and ensure that that a separate state is formed.
