Health and Medical Services Minister DL Ravindra Reddy made it clear that farmers' interest was the main aim of the government and that they were not bothered who claimed the credit for giving the assistance to the farmers. The government was only concentrating on how best the farmers could be helped and rehabilitated in the hour of their crisis.
The Minister was speaking to the newsmen who met him at the Secretariat on Wednesday in connection with Mr Naidu’s hunger strike.
Asked whether the fasting Kadapa Leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy would claim the credit for the funds' release announcement, the Minister replied that the TDP leader is on hunger strike as well and who takes the credit for anything is not the criteria for the government but who receives the government benefit is all that matters. "It is immaterial for us who claims the credit," said the Minister adding that "all that we wanted is to rescue the distressed farmers who suffered losses due to recent floods.”
Commenting on Jagan's hunger strike camp and his poser on the farmers' issue, the Minister shot back saying how a person living in Bangalore could have an idea about the interests of Andhra Pradesh or farmers' problems.
Referring to the Congress leaders, who visited the hunger strike camp of Jagan on Tuesday, the Minister said that the party would initiate disciplinary action against them.
