IT Vision document soon: Ponnala

Determined to further the spread of Information Technology services particularly for the benefit of the common man, the government has taken a decision to formulate a document on IT Vision for Andhra Pradesh in a month. This document will serve as a guiding report to help spread the IT as a modern growth engine.

Further, the government has already started identifying prominent IT companies in the world and induce them to come to the state to start their IT business here in order to, among others, generate employment prospects in view of the it graduates moving away from the state.

Minister for IT Ponnala Lakshmaiah told media persons here today that IBM South Asia representative Bharath Vats has been invited by the government.

Vats has given a presentation of IBM activities in the world as also their intentions to invest in Chennai and Hyderabad in future. IBM has agreed to step up their technology here.

The state Government has also decided to send a full-fledged report on the IBM's activities to the Centre to facilitate the spread of its business activities in the country, said the Minister. Vats also was keen on his company's spread here as he found a good potential in India, the Minister said.

At the same time Mr Lakshmaiah assured that the state government would extend all facilities to IBM.

Similarly Hyderabad based Prudhvi Information Solutions managing director Satish Kumar also met the Minister at the Secretariat on Tuesday. The Prudhvi company which has already established in India topped in IT exports to the tune of Rs 1400 crore out of Rs 1800 crore total exports from Andhra Pradesh, has branches in six other countries. This company which has already 3100 personnel on its payrolls is further studying the prospects to spread in Andhra Pradesh, the Minister said.

The state government has also agreed to allot land in Special Economic Zone in the State to Prudhvi shortly.

"This will serve as an eye opener to other IT firms," said Mr Lakshmaiah, adding that the government was scouting for more such IT companies with a view to enhancing the job potential here.

The IT minister, himself an it graduate from US, said that he would put in maximum efforts to rope in the support of reputed IT companies while providing all facilities to them to make AP an IT hub .
