Demanding justice in the recruitments, the B Ed qualified candidates of DSC 2008, who were not selected in the recruitment due to implementation of 30 per cent reservation for Secondary Grade Teacher posts, on Wednesday attempted to storm the Andhra Pradesh Assembly.
However, the police foiled their attempts and resorted to a mild lathi-charge to disperse the teacher aspirants. The police took a few teacher aspirants into their custody and shifted them to a nearby police station.
The teacher aspirants demanded that the government appoint qualified candidates on common merit list and do justice to them.
Earlier, the teacher aspirants, raising slogans against Education Minister S Sailajanath and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, started in a procession from Indira Park demanding justice for them in appointments.
They demanded that the government make a clear statement over the issue before the conclusion of Assembly session.
The candidates warned that they would intensify their agitation until the government takes a concrete decision over filling the B Ed posts under the DSC 2008 lists.
