Later, Speaker Meira Kumar and Union Minister for Water Resources Pawan Kumar Bansal assured Lagadapati that they would allow a special discussion on farmers’ problems in the Budget Session of the House.

Following the assurance by the Speaker and the Union Minister, Mr Rajagopal withdrew his silent protest.

Later talking to media persons, the Vijayawada MP said that the august Houses should give some of their valuable time for discussing farmer’s issues instead of wasting it on the logjam due to the opposition protest on the 2G Spectrum scam.

Reacting to the news about Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest in connection with raising farmers’ issues in front of Assembly, the MP said that Mr Naidu has no moral right to comment on farmer woes as he failed to waive their loans during his stint.

He charged the TDP chief of shedding crocodile tears to get political mileage on the issue.

However, the people and farmers of the state are not in a position to believe Mr Naidu’s cheap tricks, he stated.
