Minister for Major Industries and Sugar J Geetha Reddy will, in all likelihood, be named as the Deputy Chief Minister, while Sanathnagar MLA Marri Shashidhar Reddy will be the next Pradesh Congress Committee president.
According to highly placed source, the Congress Core Committee has decided on the two names for the two posts. The formal announcement confirming this news would be made possibly by late on Saturday night or on Sunday, sources say.
The decisions have been taken after incumbent PCC chief D Srinivas met Congress president Sonia Gandhi at her residence and is believed to have suggested Mr Shashidhar Reddy’s name as his successor. Mr Srinivas is also believed to have expressed his support for Ms Geetha Reddy’s candidature.
Later, Mr Shashidhar Reddy and Union Minister for Urban Development S Jaipal Reddy also met Ms Sonia Gandhi.
