Govt to embark on 'Aarogya Baata' soon

The state government will shortly travel in the ' Aarogya Bata' to motivate the doctors and the staff in the government hospitals to render better services to the patients.

The government has also released Rs 95.6 crore for Primary Health Centres in the state for improving the services to the people.

Stating this at a press meeting at the Secretariat on Friday, Minister for Medical Education and Health DL Ravindra Reddy said that there were better professionals and specialists working for the government hospitals. Therefore there were better prospects for providing better services to the patients.

The rationale behind the 'Aarogya Bata' was to see that the doctors and the staff functioned to the advantage of the patients. There was a misconception that the supply in the government hospitals was not up to the mark. "So we want to remove that bad impression," said the Minister, who himself is a doctor from Kurnool.

Besides, efforts would be made to increase the awareness among the people that drugs supplied in the government hospitals were equally good including the availability of the staff and systems.

Asked about the private laboratories fleecing the public, the Minister replied that the government was studying the issue. Besides, there was a proposal to introduce a Bill in Parliament to set up an Act to check all these menaces.

The government will also make efforts to remove any lacunae in the system that were acting as irritants for favour of offering better services to the patients.

The emphasis was also on improving the services of Arogyasri and the demands of the staff of 104 services will also  be discussed and settled by the Chief Minister, Dr Ravindra said.

The Aarogya Bata will make attempts to increase the awareness for prevention of diseases like malaria etc, the Minister said. 

Efforts were also on to fill up the vacancies wherever there was scope. The Chief Minister was also impressed upon to allot on priority more budget for Health, as he was stressing on health scheme.
