Despite the call given by former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy to his loyalists not to emulate him and resign from their posts, the MPTC and ZPTC members from East Godavari district continued their spree of resignations, extending moral support to their leader.
According to sources, about 35 ZPTC and MPTC members have submitted their resignations to their posts on Tuesday.
This follows the twenty-five members who had submitted their resignations immediately after Mr Jaganmohan Reddy announced his decision of resigning from Kadapa Lok Sabha seat on Monday and from the Congress party.
The ZPTCs and MPTCs staged rallies and dharnas raising slogans against Congress president Sonia Gandhi and burnt her effigies in front of District Congress Committee.
The members stated that they have a strong attachment and emotional bonding with former chief minister YSR and his family members. The members said they came to power only with the support of YSR.
“If the High Command works against YSR family members, we do not want to become mute spectators”, they warned.
Former minister M Padmanabham, MLA T Gopala Krishna and District Congress Mahila Wing president Nirmala Devi and ZPTC chief M Suri Babu expressed solidarity with Mr Jaganmohan Reddy.
