Hyderabad, Sept 9 :
The Chief Minister asked the officials to call the dal and rice millers for a meeting and ask them to cooperate and sell rice and dal at reasonable prices. Talking to media persons after reviewing soaring prices of essential commodities with revenue, civil supply and vigilance officials at Secretariat on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that the Food Advisory Committees and Price Monitoring Committees should meet regularly and monitor the price situation.
The officials informed the Chief Minister that the 496 counters of the Civil Supplies department are functioning well and selling rice at reasonable price. The Chief Minister asked the officials to check the ever increasing prices of sugar.
The Chief Minister was also informed that palm oil is continued to be supplied at 1 litre per month through fair price shops.
The GO on incentives each to the informants who report the hoarding and black-marketing and the officials who raid and seize the stocks will be issued in two days, he added.
He further said that the State Government has written to the Centre the need to fix maximum prices of preferred variety of rice and toor dal so that the seized stocks could be released to the markets.
The prices of Preferred superfine rice, fine/common variety rice, blackgram dal, greengram dal, Bengalgram dal, tamarind, chillies, Onions, Groundnut oil, sunflower oil and palmolien oil increased this month compared to last month. The prices redgram dal, however, showed a downward trend.
Special Commissioner, Civil Supplies, M Subramaniam, MD, AP Civil Supplies Corporation, Udayalakshmi, Secretary, Finance, T Satyanarayana and other officials attended the meeting.
