The state government is optimistic that production of food grains during the next Rabi season would be on par, if not more, than that of the Kharif season.
And the target for issuing the cooperative society loans shall also be the same, said Minister for Cooperation, Labour and Employment Ramreddy Venkata Reddy.
Briefing media persons here on Monday, the Minister informed that under Kharif season Rs 7,000 crore worth cooperative loans were given away from 2004 to 2010. Between 2004 and 2009, the Minister said that Rs 2,294 crore loans were offered and this year alone Rs 3,181 crore loan as target was fixed for the benefit of farmers.
And this year Rs 2,280 crore in loans had been given to meet the farmers' requirement. Because of good monsoon this year the next Rabi season production food grains will be better, he said.
Elections to the Rural Electrification Societies will be held in Kuppam and Cheepurupally the end of this month, Mr Venkata Reddy said.
The draft of the 2010 Cooperative Act has been handed over to Chief Minister K Rosaiah for his perusal.
