Mismatch between CBN Stats and Real Facts. Andhra Pradesh Debt Debate: Conflicting Figures Leave Public in the Dark.

A heated debate over Andhra Pradesh's debt figures has erupted, leaving the public confused about the true financial state of the state. Chief Minister Chandrababu Singh released a white paper in the assembly outlining the state's debt, while former CM YS Jagan held a press conference with his own debt calculations. The two leaders' figures drastically differ, creating a confusing situation for both the public and intellectuals.

Chandrababu's white paper claims a debt of ₹9.74 lakh crore during the YCP regime, translating to a per capita debt of ₹1.44 lakh. However, this calculation seems to be flawed, as using the state's population of approximately 5 crore, the total debt would be around ₹7.21 lakh crore. Additionally, Chandrababu's previous statements during the election campaign claimed a debt of ₹14 lakh crore for Andhra Pradesh.

Jagan, on the other hand, challenges these figures, highlighting inconsistencies between the white paper and the budget. He claims Chandrababu is avoiding transparency by not including the debt incurred during his tenure from 2014 to 2019. Jagan's claims also point to discrepancies in per capita debt, raising further doubts about Chandrababu's calculations.

The public is left grappling with conflicting information, unable to determine the accuracy of either leader's claims. Intellectuals and concerned citizens are demanding transparency and accurate financial figures from the Finance Department. The lack of clarity regarding the state's debt has raised concerns about political manipulation and potential for financial mismanagement.

Telangana, a neighboring state, provides a stark contrast with its transparent presentation of debt statistics. The current situation in Andhra Pradesh highlights the importance of open and honest financial reporting, particularly when it comes to matters impacting the state's future.
