Condemning the remarks of Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu against Congress party during his road shows in East Godavari district, Congress MLC KR Amos on Friday challenged the TDP chief to substantiate his allegations with proof.
Talking to media persons on CLP premises, Mr Amos wondered how could Mr Naidu, the `Man of corruption’, speak on the subject.
The Congress MLC charged that during nine years of Telugu Desam Party rule, corruption was rampant in the state. Mr Amos added the allegations that the then government even went to the extent of bribing advocates to escape from the public wrath.
He stated that the TDP chief has no moral right to make allegations of corruption against Congress leaders in general and and former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy in particular, who implemented many welfare schemes for the benefit of poor and middle-class people.
“The Congress government has implemented all promises made in the election manifesto. That’s why people voted for the party to come to power for the second term rejected the corrupt Naidu government in the elections,” the MLC said.
The people of state are no longer in a position to believe the TDP’s cheap gimmicks, Mr Amos said and asked Mr Naidu to stop his baseless campaign against the Congress.
He asked Naidu to act as a responsible Opposition leader. If Mr Naidu does not stop his rhetoric, the Congress leaders will not remain mute spectators, Mr Amos said.
