Nagarjuna takes back his resignation

After initially refusing to accept the advice of Chief Justice Nissar Ahmed Kakru on Saturday, Justice C V Nagarjuna Reddy finally relented and withdrew his resignation later in the day.

Justice Reddy had who had resigned after being anguished at the acts of vandalism by lawyers during their protests on Thursday. The lawyers were staging protests to pressurise the government to give in to their demand of 42 per cent posts for Telanganaites in Judiciary posts. They had disrupted proceedings in his Court Hall and also vandalised furniture.

According to sources, the irate advocates had also misbehaved with him.

Justice Kakru had earlier in the day talked to Justice Reddy on telephone and urged him to reconsider his decision. This request was politely turned down.

Sources say that Justice Reddy finally relented after Justice Kakru told him that his resignation would not be accepted “under any circumstances” at a meeting between the two at the Chief Justice’s residence.

Earlier, Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy had also called on the Judge at his residence in an effort to persuade him to take back the resignation.
