Assembly Speaker K Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday called upon the legislators to follow the footsteps of former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy in the Assembly proceedings and uplift the dignity and respect of the House.
The Speaker was speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a ceremony to mark the release of a book on speeches delivered by YSR in Assembly and a CD at the Assembly Committee Hall.
Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy revealed that the book contains 75 speeches of former leader since 1983 to 2009. The set of 29 DVDs contains 55 speeches of the late leader, he said.
Recalling the services of the late leader, the Speaker said that YSR always gave priority to solving problems of the people. “Before working on finding a solution to the problem, he studied it from all angles and solved it. Even if he found any loopholes in government schemes, he admitted to these and plugged them by discussing with concerned officials,” he stated.
Releasing the books on speeches made by the former chief minister, Legislative Council Chairman Chakrapani was nostalgic about times he had spent with YSR. He revealed his memories of the late leader and recollected how he occupied a memorable place in the hearts of people.
Floor Leader J Geetha Reddy attended the programme on the behalf of Chief Minister K Rosaiah, who was indisposed, and released the CDs.
She recalled how YSR effectively thwarted the attempts of the opposition to disrupt the proceedings in the Legislative Assembly.
