Suspended Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Ambati Rambabu on Thursday assured that the Odarpu yatra of YSR district (formerly Kadapa) MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy would continue in Prakasam district as per the earlier announced schedule of September 3.
Mr Rambabu told media persons that the Odarpu Yatra would continue despite the announcement by the All India Congress Committee announcement of a Rs 1 lakh financial package for the families of those who died of shock following the news of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s sudden death.
The suspended PCC secretary was speaking after paying rich floral tributes to the former chief minister at a programme arranged to mark his first death anniversary.
Mr Rambabu reiterated that the Kadapa MP would continue his yatra to console these families and extend moral support to them since this was part of his duty as a son.
“There is no connection between High Command announcing financial assistance for these families and Jaganmohan Reddy’s yatra in Prakasam district. He will continue his yatra as per the schedule. There is no question of postponing the yatra. The High Command has not imposed any restrictions on the Odarpu yatra,” he pointed out.
