Started as an assistant to writers and directors, Bobby made his powerful entry as a director with Ravi Teja starrer Power. It became success at the boxoffice and earned name as a promising director in handling commercial entertainers. He got the opportunity to direct Pawan Kalyan for his second film, Sardaar Gabbar Singh. But, the film became a failure at the box office.
He came up with a different film for a star hero with Jai Lava Kusa starring NTR in a triple role. The film became a commercial success. Bobby then directed multi-starrer Venky Mama with Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya in lead roles. The real life relation between Venky and Chaitu reflected in the film too and became a success.
Bobby got offer to direct Chiranjeevi for Waltair Veerayya. He scored his career biggest hit with this film which was released for Sankranthi this year.
