Yatra was the biopic of former United Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister late YS Rajasekhar Reddy. The film was directed by Mahi V Raghav with Malayalam star Mammootty playing the role of YSR. The film became success and succeeded in creating sensation among the audience to stir up the discussion about YSR and his rule. Now, Mahi V Raghav is getting ready with Yatra 2.
Yatra was released right before the general elections in 2019. Infact the film also played a role in bringing positivity for YSRC party during election mood in the state. The similar move can be seen in Yatra 2 too. Yatra was about YSR's walkathon to power and becoming CM in 2004 rising among numerous Congress leaders at that time.
Yatra 2 is about YS Jaganmohan Reddy's March to victory in 2019 elections. His struggles post the demise of his father YSR, clashes with Congress high command and starting YSRCP. All these things are said to be covered in Yatra 2 until YS Jagan becomes Chief Minister with thumping majority in last elections.
Tamil actor Jiiva will be essaying the role of YS Jagan in Yatra 2. A first look poster is released blending the trademark hand weaving of YSR and YSJ. It also has a caption that reads, " This world may not know who I am. But, remember one thing, I am the son of YS Rajasekhar Reddy. Santosh Narayanan is said to composed a couple of songs for the film. Yatra 2 will hit the screens in February 2024 before general elections.
