Balagam which was a dark horse has became a winner at the boxoffice. It has been going well in Nizam region and is one of the most profitable films. It is running well in main centers at AP region too. The natural depiction of Telangana culture blended with emotional family drama with a death backdrop strikes a chord with the audience. The film was released on 3,Rd March and the collections increased slowly day by day and even registers house-fulls during weekend and holidays.
Backed by Dil Raju, Balagam is produced by his family members Hanshitha and Harshith in their sister banner Dil Raju Productions which is founded to produce content based films. Comedy actor, Venu Yeldandi has directed the film. The film won accolades from all corners, Megastar Chiranjeevi personally congratulated the team impressed with the film and Director Shankar, Mega Power Star Ram Charan also watched the film and showered praises.
Coming to the main point, Balagam is now streaming in Amazon Prime and Simply South (Outside India) OTT platforms. It has been only three weeks since the film released in Theatres and it is running with highest collections at the moment comparing to new releases too. This OTT release came as a shock to everyone. But, generally these type of content based low budgeted film are aiming for OTT deals primarily. They release the film just for the sake of it or for providing feeding to theatres for a week. Miraculously Balagam got connected well with the audience and it kept growing day by day. This is something even the makers didn't expected. But still they must honour the deal they made with OTTs.
But it is sad that someone like Dil Raju who rose to prominence with distributor backdrop plays a deaf ear to a film running too good in theatres. Yes, he might got better deal from OTT giants but, small film like Balagam running with good occupancies and collected more crores. It would definitely boost confidence among other makers and majorly Theatres to opt for small budget films. Now with Balagam went for OTT, the theatres playing it will have a tough time.
