Naseeruddin Shah on South film, Taj Mahal and Red Fort

Naseeruddin Shah stunning words

Naseeruddin Shah is known for his versatile performances. In his interaction with the scribes, he came up with a stunner about Raj Mhal and Redort and also on south films.  Naseeruddin Shabh is starring in a webseries titled Taj – Divided by Blood which will be premiered on Zee5 on 3 March. He is playing the role of Emperor Akbar.

He asked people to demolish Taj Mahal,Redfort and Qutub Minar. He said  “It amuses me because it is so utterly ridiculous. I mean, people can’t tell the difference between Akbar and a murderous invader like Nader Shah or Babar’s great-grandfather Taimur. These were people who came here to loot, the Mughals didn’t come here to loot. They came here to make this their home and that’s what they did. Who can deny their contribution?”

He continued “So what people are saying is to some extent true, that the Mughals have been glorified at the expense of our own indigenous traditions. Perhaps that’s true, [But] there is no need to villainize them either. If everything they did was horrible, then knock down the Taj Mahal, knock down the Red Fort, and knock down Qutub Minar. Why do we consider the Red Fort sacred, it was built by a Mughal. We need not glorify them, but there is no need to vilify them either.”

On South films doing good compared to Bollywood,he added “"They have made fun of Sikhs, Christians, Parsis… A Muslim man was always hero’s best friend who died while saving him in the end. But he died nonetheless."

He continued "The bubble of Hindi films is about to burst because they lack substance. We keep on claiming that our films are being watched across the world, just like Indian food is being eaten globally. Indian food is being eaten because it has dum, it has substance. There is only one reason why these films are made, and everyone knows what that is."
