Dhanush's SIR entered into the profit zone. Vaathi which was released in Telugu as SIR marks Dhanush's debut in Tollywood. Ahead of the film's release, doubts were expressed over the film's performance at the box office as Tamil Tambis are very hard to be pleased and they do not accept other language directors directing their heroes. With Vijay's Varasudu directed by Vamsi Paidipally failing to set the screens on fire, trade pundits and movie lovers kept their fingers crossed.
However, Dhanush's SIR directed by Venky Atluri started doing exceedingly well. It breached the breakeven and entered into the profit zone. This is the best result and happy moment not only for Dhanush but also for director Venky Atluri and Sithara Entertainments banner.
SIR starred Samyuktha Menon as the female lead while Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani, Samuthirakhani, Thothapalli Madhu, Narra Srinivas, Pammi Sai, Hyper Aadi, Adukalam Naren, and Praveena in important roles. Music for the film is scored by GV.Prakash Kumar. The film in one week collected over Rs 66crs across the world. The film made 220% profit in just four days in two Telugu states.
