Legendary director Kasinathuni Viswanath aka K Viswanath is no more. He breathed his last in Hyderabad on 2nd February, 2023 due to old age health issues. He was 92 and is survived by a wife and children.
K Viswanath, who was considered one of the all time great directors of Tollywood, was born on 19 February, 1930 in Repalle, Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.
Having debuted as a director with Aatma Gauravam in 1965, K Viswanath never looked back in his career. He wielded the megaphone for the projects such as Undamma Bottu Pedatha, Chinnanati Snehithulu, Kaalam Marindi. However, K Viswanath's indelible imprint as a classic director upraised in 1976's blockbuster Siri Siri Muvva. Thereupon he helmed the master classics such as Seethamalakshmi, Shankaraabharanam, Swathi Mutyam, Sagara Sangamam, Swayam Krushi, Swathi Kiranam, Sutradharulu etc. He dealt with many social issues in his films for which he received the accolades of the critics and the audience.
K Viswanath's versatility as a director, screenplay writer and actor can be witnessed in his films. His impeccable excellence as a director won him many awards and honours. He received Indian film industry's biggest award Dada Saheb Phalke in 2016 while he was the recipient of Padma Shri award in 1992. The legendary director had also bagged five national awards, seven state Nandi awards and ten Filmfare awards.
K Viswanath's demise is an irrecoverable loss to the Indian film industry. Cinejosh is extremely saddened with his demise. May his soul rest in peace!
