Thegimpu Occupying Vaarsudu Theatres

Vijay's Loss Is Ajith's Gain

More than the Telugu biggies Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy, huge drama is going on with Tamil films this Sankranthi. Likewise Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna, Ajith and Vijay are competitors and the rivalry between their fans is well known. When it is announced that both Vijay's Varisu and Ajith's Thunivu are clashing for Pongal. Everyone expected many issues will surface during the release time. When Udhayanidhi Stalin who is the current showrunner in Tamil Nadu theatrical business backed Thunivu, things turned complex.

Right from the thetares allotment to release dates announcements, both the films played their own game to take upper hand on other film. Finally both films announced that they will be arriving on the same date, 11th January. But, these decisions affected their Telugu versions Vaarasudu and Thunivu. Initially Vaarasudu was supposed to release on 12th January. With the announcement that Thunivu / Thegimpu coming on 11th January, Varisu / Vaarsudu also gets preponed and announced their release date as 11th January. With this sudden decision the Telugu version Vaarasudu Postponed to 14th January due to incompletion of dubbing works. The final copy in Telugu will be ready by 12th. So, it is inevitable to postpone the Telugu version of Varisu i.e., Vaarasudu.

This came as a blessing in disguise for Thunivu Telugu version Thegimpu. Initially it didn't have any big number of screens. It was releasing in very limited screens but with Vaarasudu getting postponed to 14th, those theatres supposed to play Vijay's Film are allotted to Ajith's Thegimpu for the first three days until 13th. From 14th Thegimpu will continue running in initially announced screens. But, the theatre count will be huge for Thegimpu for the first three days that too during festive season. This is definitely a huge advantage for the film.
