One cannot predict the tastes and preferences of movie lovers and why few films which attract viewers on the big screen and break many records at the box office with stunning collections fail to replicate the same magic on the OTTs.
There are many films in the recent past that have turned out to be hits in the theatres but turned out to be duds on OTT platforms. Films like The Kashmir Files, Rishabh Shett's Kantara, Siva Karthikeyan’s Don, Kamal Haasan's Vikram, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor's Brahmastra, Venaktesh-Varun Tej's F3, Yash-Prasant Neel's KGF2, Maniratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 1, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Kalyan Ram's Bimbisara and Duqler Salmaan's Sitaramam turned out to be superhits and got rave reviews from all quarters when they released in the theatres.
People who skipped the theatrical release and waited to watch these films on OTTs however failed to feel the magic and wondered how they turned out to be hits at the box office in the first place.
