Popular filmmaker Pratap Poten passed away due to cardiac arrest leaving everyone tear-struck. 70year old Pratap Poten was found dead in a house in Chennai. Pratap Poten starred in many Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films. He won a National Award for directing the 1985 film Meendum Oru Kaathal Kathai. Pratap Poten married Radhika Sarathkumar in 1985 but they parted ways. Later he married Amala Satyanath but they got separated in 2012.
Pratap Poten starred in classics like Akali Rajyam, Kanchana Ganga, Justice Chakravarthy, Chukkallo Chandrudu, Maro Charitra, and Veedevadu. He even directed a Telugu film titled Chaitanya. A student of Madras Christian College, Pothen worked in ad agencies before making his debut in films. He starred in the Malayalam film Aaravam.
