When top national BJP leaders like JP. Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and others flew down to meet Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, people of the Telugu states Telangana and Andhra Pradesh got excited and expected that PM Modi and the BJP will nominate Venkaiah Naidu as the presidential candidate.
This triggered various discussions, analysis on news channels, and some even came up with articles on the net saying that Venkaiah Naidu's candidature is confirmed for the post of the President. However, much to the shock and disappointment of all Telugu people, BJP announced Droupadi Murmu (64), a Santhal from Odisha, as its candidate.
Now, angry Telugu people are accusing AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy of dashing Venkaiah Naidu's presidential dreams. It is natural for anyone who was in the post of the vice president to dream of getting anointed to the President's post. Rumors have it that CM Jagan who met PM Modi a few weeks back, told Modi adamantly that he would support any candidature other than Venkaiah Naidu. He suspects Venkaiah Naidu of sharing good relations with his arch-rival, TDP chief Chandra Babu Naidu. YSRCP leaders like Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy abused Venkaiah Naidu in a shocking manner. Telugu people are abusing Jagan of stalling Veniakiah Naidu from becoming the President of the country. Had Venkaiah Naidu become the president, he would have been only the second Telugu person after Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy.
