Filmnagar Society cheats lyricist Veturi's land.

The well-known Telugu lyricist Veturi Sundara Rama Murthy was denied a plot in the Filmnagar Cooperative Society even though he had registered his name with the society way back in 1982. He alleged that several juniors and persons who did not have any affiliation with the industry are being given plots while members are being ignored.

According to him, many irregularities have been taking place in the society over the last two decades owing to the lack of supervision from the government. Plots worth crores of rupees were allocated to ineligible persons, while the seniority list was ignored.

He said he had met the executive members several times to pursue the matter but there was no proper response from them. Recently, he was offered a flat instead of land. And even then, the executive members put a condition that he had to pay Rs. 5 lakh.

Veturi was stunned by the offer. ‘I don't understand why I should accept a flat, that too, by paying Rs 5 lakh. I have every right to get a piece of land in the society since the property originally belonged to the government. I request the government to appoint an officer to verify the irregularities in allotment of plots in the society,’ Veturi said.
