Sobhan Babu with his handsome looks and powerful performances stole the hearts of all females and attained stardom as Natabhushana. He used to be a teetotaler and except in films he never used to touch cigarette. Later he stopped having coffee as well.
Sharing the secret he once said, “One should have limitations in habits. I was grown up like that since childhood. I never smoke cigarettes except in films and never consumed alcohol. I never had champagne which had less alcohol content. Heroines laughed at me, when I went for parties. They used to force me to have champagne which they used to consume. I never even touched it. They used to question, 'We are having champagne. Why are you scared even to touch it? How can you have Brandy and Whisky? I told them that my life style is like that.
I used to have coffee for 45 years then I stopped it. During Evandi Aavida Vachchindi shooting I asked coffee early morning. No one served me but I went to shooting. It repeated the second day too. I felt that I was fine without coffee for two days; there is nothing wrong if I stop totally and from then on I quit coffee. However once when I was in flight, everyone was having coffee and that smell attracted me and at the same time air hostess served coffee. I couldn't control myself but at once I regained composure and I smelled that coffee and kept it down."
Sobhan Babu’s super hit film Doctor Babu completes 45 years today. It’s the only film that Sobhan Babu and Jayalalithaa acted together.
