Filmmaking always passes through a phase. Till recently Tollywood witnessed success of family, horror, comedy, multi starrer, action and biopic genres. But it seems Tollywood's new mantra for success is films on weddings.
The success of Pelli Choopulu changed the trend from horror films to wedding films. Raj Kandukuri, who is producing three films with three different actors, says family emotions always connect chords with the viewers and it is a good idea to make films with wedding backdrop. He however added that it all boils down to how one is making the film and one should show emotions in a proper manner.
Satish Vegeshna said he decided to take Srinivasa Kalyanam to show how weddings in the olden days used to be and how they just turned into mere events now. Mental Madilo and Fidaa too had the same theme like the lead pair meeting at the girl's sister wedding.
Chi La Sow also had similar theme with the girl wanting to get married, while the hero is keen only after settling in life. It seems Tollywood's fascination for wedding genre increases in future too.
