Old Is Gold: ANR Tassadiyya

ANR’s mass image bolstered by crazy dialogue

Legends NTR, ANR starred in first social film Samsaram which released on 29-12-1950. In fact, that happened to be ANR’s first social entertainer.

ANR who made his debut with Seetarama Jananam (1-12-1944) as Rama, from then on starred only in mythological roles. ANR’s image increased leaps and bounds with mythological and flokfore films like Keelu Gurram and Balaraju.

When LV Prasad has cast ANR in social entertainer Samsaram, industry expressed doubts. But, ANR who took it as a challenge decided to prove critics wrong. LV Prasad took lot of care to show ANR in the role of an innocent ruffian and hilarious villager Venu. He used to enact each and every scene to get perfect output from ANR. He even included a mannerism with the dialogue ‘Tassadiyya’ and when ANR exceeded his expectations, LV Prasad got excited and started jumping asking “Tassadiyya.. kaasta motadu penchavayya." ANR attained dizzy heights with his performance in Samsaram.
