Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmavat starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh has finally got the release date announced to 25th January. The film which has been in news for almost more than a year has deferred with couple of release dates facing the stiff opposition from a section of people in North India. In fact, the romantic period drama has faced death threats and bounties served on Deepika and Bhansali.
In 2018, Censor Board watched the film to grand U/A certificate passing strict guidelines to Bhansali about five modifications to be made. Strange news is, these modifications will result in overall 300 cuts and Bhansali has no other go than following the mandate from Board.
Reports say, Bhansali’s references to Mewar, Delhi and Chittor in the film will be completely cut. So, the whole backdrop of the film finds hard to connect.
With Padmavat releasing on January 25, one more awaited Hindi film Aiyaary is shifted to February 9 while Akshay Kumar’s Pad Man will compete with Padmavat.
