Nithin's Global Cinemas has bagged the Telugu Rights of Superstar Rajinikanth and sensational Shankar's 2.0. Reports are emerging that they have shelled out a whopping 81 Crore for the rights and another 9 Crore have to be paid for GST before release. So, 90 Crore investment will mean that rights have to be sold in all Telugu areas for a whopping 100 Crore minimum or more to gain profits or at least breakeven.
2.0 pre-release business happens to be more than that of NTR's Jai Lava Kusa and Mahesh Babu's Spyder. It will be almost equal or more to that of Pawan Kalyan - Trivikram's film.
2.0 is being readied for January 25th, 2018 release as Republic Day Special. The movie's shooting is currently in the final stage and post-production works are going on simultaneously.
Bollywood star hero Akshay Kumar is playing baddie in the film and this also marks his Southern debut. Lyca Productions is bankrolling 2.0 which is being made with a mammoth budget of 400 Crore. It is deemed as the costliest film in the history of Indian cinema.
