While the ruling TRS and leaders are promoting Hyderabad as highly developing and most modern city in the world, stats from National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) are in complete contrast. According to a report, Hyderabad stands top two in the country on retrograde practice of domestic violence and in top three on dowry deaths. Nevertheless, city also tops on crimes like rapes and sexual harassment too.
From 2014 to 2015, cases on domestic violence increased by nearly 25% while dowry deaths are decreased by 15%. Nevertheless, Government and Police department is taking all the preventive measures to control sexual harassment with the innovative concept of She Teams launched in October 2014.
New Delhi tops in dowry deaths, cruelty of husband and in-laws with a total of 13,500 cases registered while Hyderabad stands at two with 8,500 cases followed by Vijayawada at third with 4,900 cases and Mumbai, Bengaluru in next positions.
