Jallikattu Controversy Ends!

Central Ordinance Stopping SC Verdict Brings Jallikattu Back in TN

Jallikattu, the ancient bull taming festival conducted as a Tamil tradition brewed a controversy when Supreme Court banned Jallikattu in 2014 on a petition by activists. A review petition filed by Tamil Nadu was also rejected. Against the Supreme order, Tamil community across the world stood united fighting for their culture and Tamil pride holding protests requesting for an ordinance to conduct Jallikattu.

Thousands and Lakhs of protesters throng to Marina Beach in last four days protesting with the only demand for promulgation of an order removing the ban on Jallikattu.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Pannerselvam is in New Delhi from last couple of days consulting lawyers and Central leaders to check for an alternative ordinance to bypass Supreme Court ban verdict. Finally, Supreme Court has agreed to a central government’s request and will not give its verdict on Jallikattu ban at least for a week.
