Jayammu Inspired By Alpa Jeevi!

Jayammu Nishchayammu Raa Inspired By Alpa Jeevi Novel?

‘Jayammu Nishchayammu Raa’ is one film introducing comedian Srinivas Reddy as hero in the direction of debutant Shivraj Kanumuri is making positive buzz in film circles. Right from the first song released to the latest trailer, everything clicked with audience in the name of Desi Entertainment and the film is set for a grand release on Nov 25th.

Though treatment, visuals and characterizations offered something new to relish, a striking observation one can find from JNR promotional stuff is writer Shivraj Kanumuri’s strong inspiration from Rachakonda Vishwanatha Shastry and his first experimental novel ‘Alpa Jeevi.’

The protagonist characterization of Sarva Mangalam in JNR had strong resemblances with Subbayya in the novel who works as Clerk in Government Office. Difference is Subbayya is married while Sarva Mangalam isn’t. All the episodes running in Municipal Office including corrupt colleagues and timid, apprehensive Sarva Mangalam show direct similarity with the atmosphere created by great writer RaaVi Shastry. Entry of Rani (Poorna)/Mano Rama into Sarva Mangalam/Subbayya’s life bring a big change. What’s it is the rest of movie. How an introvert protagonist transforms into an extrovert in the company of leading lady seems to be the actual story.

It’s a good deal to see young and upcoming directors picking their inspirations from forgotten era of old writers and their novels. ‘Alpa Jeevi’ is remembered as one of the best novels in Telugu literature touched the lifestyle of inhabitants in Srikakulam and Vizia Nagaram districts. Whatsoever, JNR had a Kakinada backdrop.

Generation of sympathy towards Sarva Mangalam will be the key feature for JNR to win the Box Office game because becoming an Alpa Jeevi like Subbayya isn’t going to be that easy for Srinivas Reddy.

This is actually a preliminary opinion we got from JNR first look trailer and characters behavior. We may have to do more analysis once JNR hits the screens. Alpa Jeevi is one of the lessons for Telugu Literature opting contenders at Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams. Such is the significance of Alpa Jeevi novel when we study our literature as a subject.
