Ajay Devgn’s brand new action thriller ‘Shivaay,’ produced, directed and acted by him-self is released against Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ as a Diwali gift to cinema lovers. Both the films opened to mixed reviews but presence of Aishwarya Rai, Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor helped ADHM to gain an edge in opening collections in domestic and Overseas market. In contrast, ‘Shivaay’ was not as big opener as ADHM in both the trade circuits.
‘Shivaay’ which was going pretty slow till Sunday showed a boom recovery on Monday when revenues are doubled. Trade reports say, ‘Shivaay’ got a massive growth on Monday raking Rs. 17.35 Crores while Sunday numbers were just Rs. 8.26 Crores. All in all, the re-edited version with curtailed run time has done the trick and Devgn has smile back on his face.
Till Monday, ‘Shivaay’ made an Indian business of Rs. 45.91 Crores while ADHM stands at Rs. 53.35 Crores within India. Both the big releases are going hand in hand with narrow differences while ADHM is a clear winner in Overseas.
