Is ‘Adurs’, a real threat to ‘Magadheera’?

This has been the subject of discussion in many of Junior NTR fans circles. With the overwhelming response generated to ‘Adurs’ after release, even Director VV Vinayak expressed his opinion that, “All the records will be broken away in second week.” There is nothing mistake in the statement of VV Vinayak as it will be his duty to pamper the figures of his film.

Unfortunately this statement has been taken in a different perspective by Junior NTR fans leading to the discussion of ‘Adurs’ Vs ‘Magadheera’ records break. Basic fact related to Tollywood star releases is that a major portion of revenue for star releases will be made in first and second weeks of the release with too many prints, too many theatres and too many collections and record breakings with in the first two weeks.

If total of ‘Magadheera’ revenue is estimated as Rs.70Crores, it is a known figure that first week collections itself were nearly Rs.24crores with nearly 1500 theatres…a record in Indian cinema after ‘Ghazini,’ as said by PVR theatres. On looking at the same angle for ‘Adurs,’ big mismatch as few districts in Telangana has no release of movie until first three days and the number of prints were not in that gigantic number as ‘Magadheera’ had.

But many are viewing that the positive talk generated will do the magic for movie and collections will remain sustained even in fifth and sixth weeks. Will ‘Adurs’ pull the repeat audience as done by ‘Magadheera’? Do ‘Adurs’ have that extra tinge which ‘Magadheera’ had? Will ‘Adurs’ have the same market conditions as ‘Magadheera’ had, wherein no competitive movies remained in the fray under the tsunami of Cherry’s collections? All these questions require a time frame to answer…which may be at least 3 to 4 weeks to decide whether the war raged by ‘Adurs’ on ‘Magadheera’ was victorious or not?
